5 Tip For Organized Suitcase Packing

If you travel often for business, you can't afford to spend 15 minutes searching through your bag every time you need to find a shirt, your toothpaste, or a comb. An organized suitcase will make your whole trip easier. But how do you stay organized when packing? Start by following these tips.

Invest in a good dopp kit.

A dopp kit, also known as a toiletry bag, is a small bag that holds items like your toothbrush, soap, and cotton swabs. Look for a pre-made kit that has plenty of pockets so you can keep the contents organized. This will keep you from having to dig through your entire suitcase to find a small item like toothpaste. There are plenty of cool upcycled men's dopp kits on the market made from recycled materials, so you can find one that you feel ethical buying.

Leave extras behind.

Do you pack extras of certain items "just in case?" How many times have you actually needed those items? Probably very few! The fewer items you actually have in your suitcase, the easier time you'll have keeping it organized. Just pack the essentials. If you really need an extra pair of socks, belt, or underwear, you can always go to a store.

Roll your clothing.

The problem with packing folded clothes is that you have to put some pieces on top and others underneath. You have to lift the top pieces to access the bottom ones, which is quite a hassle. A more organized way to pack is to roll up all of your clothes. You can then place the rolls inside the suitcase in a single layer, enabling you to see them all at once.

Don't pack contraband.

Make sure you carefully review your airline's packing restrictions. If you put something in your suitcase that is not allowed, you will have to ruffle through everything in security, leaving it all disorganized. This is another reason to pack your toiletries separately in a dopp bag. Toiletries are some of the most confiscated items. If the airline decides it does not like your bottle of shampoo or your nail clippers, they can easily remove them from your dopp bag without disturbing the rest of your suitcase.

Bring a dirty clothes bag.

Make sure you pack a separate linen bag for your dirty clothing. A suitcase will do in a pinch! This way, your dirty clothing will not get mixed in with your clean items, causing chaos.
